IP strategy
IP strategy is the sequence of decisions around what a business creates, owns, shares and sells. The useful starting point is a product and market map rather than a list of applications.
Map the product in layers
Identify the brand, technical features, appearance, software, content and confidential processes. The same product can involve several complementary rights, alongside third-party rights that need checking.
Prioritise by consequence
Ask which decision becomes harder to reverse after a launch, publication or contract. Focus preparation on assets that support revenue, differentiation or essential technical performance.
Assign ownership of the process
Name a person responsible for the internal asset inventory and upcoming decisions. Keep access to agreements, source files and register information independent of a single personal inbox.
Check the official source
